Aspect Ratio

  • It can be defined as ratio of its longer side to its shorter side.
  • The aspect ratio of a display is the relationship between its width and its height.
  • For example:- (x:y) = 5:4,4:3.

  • Original aspect ratio(OAR) and Modified aspect ratio(MAR) are the dimensions in which the film is originally produced.
  • Modified aspect ratio(MAR) is the aspect ratio assigned in order to fit a type of screen and different from the dimensions in which it is filmed.
  • commonly used aspect ratio's are 5:4,4:3,16:10 and 16:9.
